On May 25th 2018 the new General Data Protection Regulations (commonly known as GDPR) will come into force. This will replace the existing Data Protection Act.
As we store a list of Club Members and their contact details, we will be governed by the new legislation. That being the case we will at some stage need to obtain consent from members to allow their details to be stored. It would not be practical to contact every member and seek their consent individually. When the time comes for membership renewals later this year, we will ask all members to complete a form. As well as giving permission to store the information, it will allow us to make sure that it is all up to date, which is another requirement of the Regulations.
In the meantime we can offer the following assurances:
· The information stored will be used only for purposes in connection with the running of the Club, which may include communication by post, telephone or email.
· The information will not be passed to a third party or disclosed for marketing purposes.
· The data is stored on a computer in the Club office and is accessible to authorised Officers and members of the Committee only.
· A list of the information stored will be produced. This will be available on request to Members only.
If you have any concerns or require further information, please contact a member of the Committee.
